The Cabinet of Ministers issued a decree on the organization and holding of the ICTWEEK Uzbekistan-2017

July 5, 2017, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov signed a decree of the Cabinet of Ministers, which is aimed to provide all-round support in organizing and holding of the ICT Week in Uzbekistan — 2017

The Resolution is aimed at stimulating the development of the ICT sphere and the software products market, demonstrating the opportunities and benefits gained from the introduction of the E-Government system in Uzbekistan, and also at developing the ICT sphere and expanding international cooperation.

The document includes a number of provisions and permissive acts, each of which is intended to provide full-scale assistance in organizing and holding of the ICT Week at the highest level.

In particular, it was decided to identify as the sources of financing for the ICT Week, the Information and Communication Technologies Development Fund under the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the sponsorship of companies in the sphere of information and communication technologies;

  • to allow state and economic bodies, local executive bodies within the ICT Week, on an exceptional basis, to enter into direct contracts with domestic companies in the sphere of information and communication technologies — participants of the ICT Week for acquisition, development and provision of services for creation of information systems, resources , databases and other software products without tender (competitive) bidding;
  • The Uzexpocentere NEC JSC to provide the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan with preferential prices for exhibition space and equipment within the framework of the ICT Week;
  • to recommend to the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan to organize participation in the events of the Week of talented and gifted youth living in the regions of the republic, in order to familiarize themselves with the ongoing reforms in the sphere of ICT.

Within the framework of the resolution, special attention was also paid to coverage of the event in the leading media of the Republic. For example, the National Broadcasting Company of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent City Administration, are recommended to provide wide coverage of the ICT Week in the media, including through information resources accessible to foreign users.

Public tranquility and fire safety measures in venues of the ICT Week are entrusted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“Attention paid by the Cabinet of Ministers to the Week says that that event is the face of the whole industry, an important component of the IT industry, Uygun Tursunkhodzhaev, organizer of ICTWEEK-2017, says. — «We will try to justify the confidence, and jointly implement all the events planned within the framework of the Week, in accordance with the approved regulations and recommendations».

The Information and Analytical Department on Culture, Information Systems and Telecommunications of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan is responsible for execution of the resolution.
